Since Halloween is approaching, I felt inspired to make this little Witch. The figure itself is 3 1/2” high, but comes to nearly 6” with the hat and cat.

I added beads and jewels to add to her magic. She has a pentacle on the back of her cloak. The broom has stalks of Artemesia smudging sage, and they smell spicy.

The cat was the most fun to do: I wanted to capture the pose of a typical Halloween cat, with its arched back and scary, fuzzed-up tail. The whiskers are made from smoky fishing line. You can almost hear the cat hiss! Now to see what other magic I can create . . .

I live in Canada, near Lake Superior, on eighty-seven acres of forest. I love nature (I recently had a two-minute conversation with a lynx), botanical painting (especially mushrooms), nature photography, ethnic music, writing, and reading (historical, mythology and fiction). Nature inspires my dreams and visions. Every small creature and event tells its own story, from a raindrop suspended on a leaf to cast-off stag antlers lying on the snow. One just has to pick up a thread and pull to see where it leads.
